They wanted to reimagine it in a way that worked for their young family while preserving the charm and memories that made this home so meaningful.

This project presented an exciting design challenge: balancing the addition of new spaces and features with maintaining a harmonious flow inside the house and creating ample room for the outdoor areas the family cherished. We worked to ensure the expanded home didn’t feel cavernous or out of proportion and left space for a backyard built for play, relaxation, and entertaining.

Design Details

Durability and charm guided our choices for the furniture. Leather upholstery offered a spill-proof solution perfect for a young family while embracing the home’s rustic character. For the dining chairs and sofas, we selected performance fabrics that combine practicality with elegance. To bring warmth to the continuous gray flooring, soft rugs were added to designate distinct living spaces and create a cozy, welcoming atmosphere.

The color palette centered on neutral tones, accented by deep, rich blues that flow throughout the home. These pops of color add a coastal-inspired energy, while the main pieces maintain a timeless quality by blending midcentury shapes with rustic textures. Together, these elements reflect the clients’ style, striking a balance between modernity and warmth.

Textures and materials played a crucial role in honoring the home’s character. Rustic woods and layered textures were thoughtfully incorporated to infuse each room with warmth and ensure a timeless yet personal appeal.

Unique features made this renovation truly one of a kind. The art above the fireplace is a personal photograph taken by our client of his wife, adding an intimate, meaningful touch to the living room. In the kitchen, we designed a second island crafted from hand-sourced wood to meet the family’s functional and aesthetic needs. Meanwhile, the custom media unit in the family room conceals a projector screen, blending practicality with style and ensuring the space remains uncluttered.
